The Jungle Radio - Book Review

Image
The Jungle Radio by Devangana Dash, is a bright colourful book. It is so eye-catching for toddlers especially. . The Jungle Book us a story about little Gul who goes on a walk in the jungle and discovers a lot of different birds and their sounds. . This book had so many birds that I, myself got to know about a few. ( I forgot what I studied 🙈) The sounds like KREAK KREAK, TAP TAP, CHUCK CHUCK, KEE KEE has made J so keen about this book. It has so many of his Kaa-kaas (read Birds) and the sounds helps in his speech development as he repeats along with me. A perfect book when you are traching speech modulation. . Each page has a different colour than the previous and the illustrations are eye-catching and soothing. The big pictures of the birds help kids to understand and differentiate between the birds. . Whenever we read this book, we make sure we made it an action and song game as we aing and flap our hands like the wings. . Priced at ₹ 250, this is a must buy book.

In My Heart - Book Review

Image
It's not usual that you get a book that gets so close to your heart in one read. I received this gem of a book "In My Heart"  from Penguin India and it's a treasure to keep. 'In my Heart' by Nandana Dev Sen is a book every parent should buy for their child. It is a story about this beautiful girl Mia who thought she came out of her parent's heart until she saw her friend's mother's big tummy. She learns that she has a tummy mummy too and sets out to find her. This book takes us to the amazing journey of Mia discovering who she really is and where she comes from. I love the way this book has taken the dynamics of families to the next level, families that are made of bond of  love and not just of blood. It is appreciable of Mia's parents of how she is told abouot her birth and parents in this tender age in words that are easily understandable by kids of that age. the support of the extended family is commendable. The illustration

I still have goosebumps while I write about the book - Coming Round the Mountain - Ruskin Bond Though I never went to a boarding school yet this book takes me back to my schooldayss of getting whacked by the cane, the strict P.T master, getting late to school, getting detention and the food in the canteen. I still remember precisely, I used to gulp down my lunch in ten mins and rush to the library to spend rest of the lunchtime reading books. While the other kids played, Ruskin Bond's books took me closer to my love for reading. And with this new book of his, Coming Round the Mountain, an autobiographical memoir, I am taken back to his life at School through the Partition of 1947. The 13 year old Bond loves reading, plays football and hockey, loves eating jalebis abd spending time with friends. This book takes you to the age where friendship matters more than religion and politics. "Do wars solve anything, or do they just lead to more wars?" Reminds us t
