Tips for haircut for toddler

Getting a haircut for Yuv is like prepping for a mini war. He had sensory issues which also made him not liking anything on his skin. The touch of comb, scissor or razor makes him ich. He cries his lung out and it becomes very difficult for us to hold him tight.

But with therapies, his condition has improved and now he is okay with scissors and comb but razors still create a problem. So how do we manage haircut every month? (Yuv's hairs grow  very fast and we have to go through this every month)

Tips for haircut for toddler-

✂️Bring a change of clothes. If your toddler doesnt like to wear the cape or wiggle around and lets few tiny hairs inside his clothes. Keeping a set of clothes to change handy, will help you.

✂️Do not use force. Restricting your child from movement will only make it worse.

✂️Bring in their pacifier or favourite toy. It helps in distracting them from the process.

✂️Bring snacks and water. This is a good way to keep them busy while the hairstylist works on their hairs. Make note to avoid sticky snacks like lollipop.( I know, they are not snack!)

✂️Take breaks. Be prepared to take one or few breaks in between.

It helps to have a stylist who is used to working with children and who is fast.
Should you go to a specialty hair salon for kids?
They can be more expensive, but they do have a couple of advantages. First, the surroundings are set up for children: chairs with kid appeal, designed to look like planes or cars; videos on the TV; toys handy while you’re waiting.
Secondly, you know the stylists can handle the challenges of baby-fine hair and restless clients. On the other hand, at a family haircutter’s, your toddler can see Daddy get his hair done first, which might make him more co-operative when it’s his turn in the chair.

Hope these tips makes it easier for the hair session of your toddler next time!
